Kangaroo Island Connect (kic) Ferry
Kangaroo Island Connect (to be known as ‘kic’) runs a 25 metre, Crowther designed, high speed, catamaran, capable of delivering 95 passengers to Penneshaw from Cape Jervis in 30 minutes.
The vessel is named after James Cowell who died in 2003. James farmed on Kangaroo Island for over 40 years and was a keen yachtsman. A large portion of the equity in this project is held by three generations of the Cowell family.
The family’s goals are very straight forward.
To provide a service to Kangaroo Island which is cheaper, faster and more convenient.
The vessel is highly seaworthy, with passengers seated as far aft and central as possible in luxury touring coach type seating.
There are four cabins,
- A small premium first class cabin on the fly bridge in the wheelhouse with the captain
- A kids play and fun area in the port hull
- A snoozing zone or quiet area in the starboard hull
- A main cabin for chatterers and holiday makers wanting to get to and from the Island quickly
Our concept is to add some fun to the crossing to Kangaroo Island and the vessel operates between Cape Jervis and Penneshaw.\
Kangaroo Island Car Rental
kic has set up its own hire car service which is based in Cape Jervis, Penneshaw, American River and Kingscote airport. This service enables passengers to integrate their journey to and from Kangaroo Island efficiently and negates the expensive sea transport cost for cars to Kangaroo Island.
Kangaroo Island Scenic Flights
Kangaroo Island Connect (kic) is proud to announce a joint venture with Wrightsair. The two companies will be partnering to offer Kangaroo Island scenic and chartered flights operated from the American River Airpark over the summer. Operations will start 21st January 2018 and will also offer private charter transfers between Adelaide to Kangaroo Island.
American River airpark has a private, all weather 1000 metre landing strip with spectacular views across Pelican Lagoon.
Wrightsair is an award winning scenic and charter flight operator with bases in William Creek, Cooper Pedy and Wilpena Pound. They have 30 years experience and are the proud winner of the 2016 South Australian Tourism Award for “Major Tour and Transport Operator.”
kic‘s and Wrightsair’s fundamental principles are to pride themselves on safety, professionalism and support of the local communities in which they operate. We are excited to begin this joint venture and enable tourists and locals alike an aerial view Kangaroo Island’s spectacular coastline.
