How are the nominations judged?
KIC has appointed a panel of judges with expertise, knowledge and experience in youth issues, from across the geographical zones of the Northern Rivers region. The judges review all the nominations, assessing the information provided in relation to the degree to which the nominee’s contribution:
- inspires, engages and/or includes other young people
- goes beyond their normal school or work activities
- makes an impact in their community
- helps more disadvantaged or excluded groups/ individuals
- fosters better relationships between different social, ethnic or cultural groups
Judges also consider the level of personal challenges faced by each nominee and the likely psychological impact of receiving the award. Ultimately, they select a winner for each category & age division, as well as for two Judges’ Choice Awards:
Bronwyn Donaghy Memorial Award
Bronwyn Donaghy Memorial Award – recognising an “all-rounder” who contributes to the community in a variety of ways.
Encouragement Award
Encouragement Award – encouraging the ongoing participation of a young person less often acknowledged.
ALL DECISIONS ARE FINAL AND NO CORRESPONDENCE WILL BE ENTERED INTO.
